In seven years, what has Anders accomplished?
Your guess is as good as ours. We've searched journal databases to get an idea of what the guy's been doing for the past seven years, but we've come up blank.
So we figured that maybe it was just bad press. But the constituent reports he regularly mails out are of no help either. Normally, MPs boast about the work they've done in their constituency because they know that's what gets them elected, but not him.
We do know, however, that in 1999 The Calgary Herald caught him sending a batch of these constituent reports to ridings in Edmonton. Anders had exploited a loophole in the rules that allowed him to send constituent reports to other MP's constituents -- letting taxpayers foot the bill.
So, seven years and a whole lot of money later (MPs get paid $141,000 a year -- you do the math), the question remains -- what has Anders been up to? We're not expecting him to have walked around the world, but it would be nice if he had something positive to show for his time, and we had something to show for our money.
We would tell you what his website says about the past seven years, but interestingly enough, there's no mention of anything he's done.
